Question 6- What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
Whilst constructing my evaluation and my media thriller I learnt how to use many different types od editing, thw ways in which to answer questions such as prezi, survey monkey, popplet, spicynodes and voice notes. I also learnt how to record on a camera and then upload and edit it on final cut express. Using a tripod, filming outside and inside and then taking this project and putting my own personal touches. These skills are skills that I would not have develped if it wasnt for this project and I learnt that there are many different ways to present something it being a question or a movie or a thriller/trailer.

How is gender represented in the extract Prime Evil?
How is gender represented
in the prime evil extract?
Throughout the extract
prime evil authority is constantly being switched between people and
this
includes men and women and it seems as if they are both fighting for who can
get the most authority and gain this high status.
Men are usually more
likely to be recognised as the archetypes in films which is the typical traditional
hero which comes and rescues the women. This is shown when the lady is thrown on
the floor by the man in the barn holding a gun to her and she is rescued by her
friend who is a male figure who is holding a gun to the man in the barns head,
saving her. This portrays him as the hero figure which lives up to the
stereotype of men having more authority than women and more powerful hence he
was able to rescue her. This is also emphasised when the man in the field tries
to distract the creature which is attacking the crane the woman is driving and
get it away from her so it doesn’t hurt her. He then sacrifices himself to make
himself look more dominant and to play the typical role of a hero in this
extract.
However this is also
contradicted in this extract as the women do not live up to the stereotypical
women’s role in society or the perceived role that some women are given. This
stereotype is that a woman is a damsel in distress that needs to be rescued
which they slightly give off. However the blonde woman in the prime evil
extract actually rescues the male figure which would not usually happen. Whilst
he is near death trapped in a whole being attacked by a creature she quickly
thinks about what she can do to save him and starts to hit the creature with
the vehicle she is driving. This shows that she is not the stereotypical woman
that may be given off and she rejects this stereotype which is the opposite.
This is also shown at first when the lady telling the barn male that he has to
get rid of his dogs or she will call the police, she has authority not only
because of her job but even the way she presents herself. She has automatically
gained and stated that she has more authority than him because she is wearing
what seems to be more expensive clothing, she looks cleaner and she looks like
she has more money which insinuates she has more status. The man then shows
that he is not going to allow to be threatened by her and without saying it
gives the impression that it may be not only because he doesn’t like being told
what to do but also because she is a woman and he is a man and traditionally
this would never happen which aggravates him.
As this is continuous, the
blonde lady saves the man and then he tries to rescue her but then she rescues
him again but then he goes and gets help so he looks as if he is saving and
protecting her. This seems like a continuous cycle which shows that men and women
in modern society compete for authority and status. This is also due to equal
rights because women have now got more opportunities in life and are seen as
equal to men so they will do anything to prove this and that is the way it
seems in the prime evil extract.
Therefore overall the
prime evil extract shows that it doesn’t matter what gender you are overall they
are quite equal in status. However it shows how men try to impress and play the
auhtorative figure but may not succeed due to the status and authority and
power that women have actually been given in modern society.
